"Postcards are interesting and important for me. Apart from the "I am still alive" (Kawara) aspect, they are like a small lab. And easily failed as well, when too hard trying to be art. The easier, the better. Postcards are so good because they usually do not carry much weight. If failed, it's only a postcard. But I can say that they carry some of my best works. I still love these airplanes I sent many years ago. As simple as possible." -DW

VIEW EXHIBITION

Daniel Wenk’s exhibition Recent Tapings will be featured in the gallery’s Project Space. Working exclusively with adhesive tape since 1986, Wenk utilizes the natural characteristics of his chosen material to explore concepts of transience, improvisation, durability and wear. His minimalist compositions, incorporating serial processes of layering and repetition, are firmly located on the border between drawing and sculpture. The works presented in this exhibition are made of tape on aluminum composite panel and were completed in 2017.

Born in 1962 in Tubingen, Germany, Daniel Wenk studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. His works are in private and public collections including F.E. Staatsgalerie (Stuttgart), Pinkakothek Der Moderne (Munich) and Daimler Contemporary (Berlin). From 1989 onwards Wenk has had extensive stays in New York, Chicago, Moscow, Paris and San Paolo. He currently lives and works in Berlin, Germany.
