LARRY RAVITZ | Ben and Mamie’s Wedding | WAITING ROOM
June 22 - August 29, 2025
At 57w57arts, we tend to show reductive abstraction and/or conceptual work – or at least work we think of as conceptual.
I'm retiring from clinical practice this July. That means I won't be taking care of patients anymore. I’ll still hear people’s stories, since I’m going to continue my forensic practice, but I won't focus on quite the same issues.
The picture on the wall in my office is “Ben and Mamie’s Wedding.” My brother, Larry, painted it in 1989, before Parkinson’s disease began to affect his dexterity and shift his artistic style.
Ben and Mamie were my parents. For the next several months, as I spend time with this painting, I will contemplate my family, and the course my life has taken.
